It's Not Easy Being Green
This page has been long in production because it is the one I am most passionate about. It’s Not Easy Being Green, a quote from Kermit the Frog, is a page about the environment, and the challenges of conscious living. In this daily foray of advertising and corporate farming, it seems so easy to let go and let the ads guide us towards our purchases, our decisions, without thinking about the consequences to our bodies and the environment. I’d like to say that oftentimes, even the government does not have our best interests in mind. We are supposed to, by declaration of independence, guide our government to rule in our favor. Somehow the political arena has become a show of ego, and has devolved from the natural way.
It seems so daunting, and at times impossible, to make a difference. Ghandi said, “Be the Change you wish to see in the world.” So, in order to make a difference, even if small, one must set one’s own example. This is where the “it’s not easy” part comes in. Millions are swimming in one direction, and one lone fish stops to say “Hey, this isn’t right.” Thankfully more are stepping out, and I am indebted to the educational journey I have embarked on to discover the truth in this world. On this page I will strive to bring you awareness, and the best I can do today is to summarize my top 3 book recommendations on “green think”:
John Robins, Diet for a New America
Michael Pollan, The Omnivore’s Dilemma
Eric Scholsser, Fast Food Nation
Read them! You will get an eye-opening experience on corporate take-over of our food industry, and will gain an understanding of how far we have strayed from the natural way. You will see how our farming practices have changed to support our descent into maya, illusion – the constant grab for anything that enhances our superficial lifestyles. You’ll learn what’s really going on in the slaughterhouses, and will be given hints of how these practices seep into our own bodies, slowly (sometimes rapidly) deteriorating our health.
Why do I feel it important that you read these books? Because the unconscious choices you make in self-nourishment are affecting your health. You may not recognize it today, but in time you will. Don’t wait until little problems are too big to handle. Educate yourself. Start cooking for yourself. Drive by the drive-through. Cleanse and purify yourself.
You are a gift to the world, and you have gifts to share. If you don’t feel you are living to your potential, start making these small changes. As the outer layers peel off, the true treasure emerges.
More to come…
